Antique Singer Sewing Machine

About This File

Updated June 29, 2014; to reduce the sewing time, for all items.  Thanks to LilSister's post.

July 2, 2014: Added Medium Speed which takes the Sims about an hour to complete the larger items.  File name BecksSewingMachineFT-MediumSpeed.zip.

The file BecksSewingMachineFT.zip is a very fast mode.

I created this in response to a request from LilSister.  The mesh is by cokenasmile and is posted here.

I have cut in half, the length of time it takes for Sims to earn the sewing badges, and the time it takes to create the items they sew.

I did make changes to the original mesh and created a recolor.

It is found under knowledge/misc for $950.

Known issues:  When sewing an outfit you are not able to choose what you want to sew, it will however, create a bundle of clothing that you may sell, and places it in the Sims inventory.  I did not test this in a business situation, so if you do find issues...please do let me know.  All files within the zip are needed in order to make this work.  There is also a separate matching chair that is found under dining chairs for $25, which pulls it's textures from the sewing machine.

Wow - Thank you  , I love that there are two wood choices.  Honestly, I prefer the clothing pile as it allows you to decide what to buy later and your Sims can give them as gifts. Also for the homestead challenge it is another item your Sims can use to barter with.  I am going to test it in my game tonight.

I was able to test it briefly and it worked fine. It looks great in game and I can't wait to get some time to really play with it. Thanks again - I love it!

I've been testing the sewing machine. My test subject is Megan Lawrence. She has earned her silver sewing badge. Just wondering is it supposed to take 2-3 Sim hours to complete curtains and quilts?

Thanks for making me aware of this, I did some more testing and the items you mentioned were taking too long.  I tested one Sims using the EA machine and another using this one.  They took the same amount of time to complete a quilt.  So I made some more changes and posted a new one.  Now I may have them completing a bit too fast.  I know you hadn't said anything about the time in your request and hope you don't mind that I did reduce it, it is one reason I hardly used the EA version.  I felt the time it took was extreme.

Thank you so much for reducing the time. I haven't used the EA machine since I first began playing Sims 2. I have 2 other modern sewing machines (I'm now curious to find out if they have the time sequence). I've only used the sewing machines to make clothes. Since we can't make clothing I began looking for quilt recolors; and wouldn't you know it, I found some over at MTS and decided to try them out in game with your machine. Some of the patterns are very lovely.

If anyone is interested you can find them here: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=435935 and here: http://www.modthesims.info/d/370107

Now I''m off to find sewable teddy bear recolors.   BTW, Megan has earned her gold sewing badge.

It is turbo fast now   is it possible to slow it down a little? let say 1 Sim hour? If this is too much,. we can keep the first version. I tested the other machines I have and apparently I never noticed the time factor, they are the same as EA version. However, I think when Sims are in "the zone" they are able to complete projects faster.

I was afraid it was too fast now.  I didn't see any coding to increase the speed for "in the zone", but I might have missed it.  The sewing machine has a lot of coding.
