Do you use a registry cleaner like System Mechanic?  It removes important files from the registry because they aren't actually in the Sims Ultimate folders...not sure why but every time I run the registry cleaner it removes them.

There are the only registry problems it ever finds for me and I don't let it fix them anymore.  Hope this is helpful.  I even tried creating files by those names as a text file but still named them .exe and it still removed the registry info.

So yeah, I know I'm supposed to be in bed :1doh1:but I cannot get Sims 2 to run in windowed mode. I add the *space*-w and the game will not resize at all. I need my start menu to show so I can print screen what I need and then access my paint program.

The other thing, when I re-downloaded and installed, I had two of every neighbourhood. :scare3: Something is just not right and I don't know what it is.  :sleepy3:

Rename your folder in your documents the one that is under EA Games:  The Sims™ 2 Ultimate Collection

What it did was regenerated a new game.  You are going to want several folders to copy back over to your The Sims™ 2 Ultimate Collection folder.  Like you Downloads, collections,  saved sims and maybe a few others.

After you rename the The Sims™ 2 Ultimate Collection folder open your game and let it recreate a new game folder then copy over the aforementioned folders.  That should fix everything.  If not let me know.....but please get some rest.

I forgot

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection\Fun with Pets\SP9\TSBin\Sims2EP9.exe" -W

is what I have under my Sims 2 shortcut on my desktop and I start the game from that icon.

I tried the -w and that won't work on this version of whatever.....😡 As for the original neighbourhoods, I never once played them and didn't have them when I was playing.

I did learn something, I can still *Print Screen* from my laptop. then I just tap the window button on my keyboard and the game disappears but I can access my paint program. Then all I have to do to get the game back is tap that key again.

I will go into my files and take a couple of pictures and show you what I have, it's not what you have.

That is what I have in the folder for Fun with Pets. :1doh1:  Wait a minute, does the *w* have to be in caps?

OK, ran out of patience with this stupid file and I just uninstalled Sims 2. I'm going to download it again and see what happens. *SIGH*

Aww MM, I am so sorry you have such trouble with UC. I am playing Sims 2 from the disks. With Win 10 I had a lot of trouble getting it working, but with tons of help from the Sims community all over the internet I got it working and so far it's still working fine.

I hope you get your game working soon! :405831:

:scare3: Goodness, gracious--I finally got almost everything back to normal. Even with uninstalling and removing ALL Sims 2 files and folders, I spent and additional 2 1/2 hours going through every single folder and deleting duplicate files. It's opening in windowed mode, but I still have one problem. When I go into create a family that screen is too big. The Sims has part of the screen blocking the bottom part.
