Members RubberMan
In my first tutorial "Anyone can mesh!" I gently brushed the surface of modelling with Wings 3D I'm hoping that you actually continued to play around with it and got the bug?! Although I used a very softly, softly approach to a massively complicated task you should now know a few commands. Here they are; Bevel, Extrude, Scale Uniform, Move, Cut, Put on Ground and Unitize. Believe it or not you also learnt how to manipulate an object using different parts of it; Face, Body, Vertex and Edge manipulation. During this one I intend to add some tips and tricks that many do not know. Enough of this rubbish I hear you say! Let us progress into the unknown and actually do something. Bear in mind these tutorials are not aimed solely at the Sims 2. Once you know how to mesh you can adapt your objects to any 3D game! Ok. run Wings 3D If you followed the last tutorial you can now right click and get that menu up and select cube. Put it on the ground (

Members broomhilda61
:scare3: this is all you are getting from me..it's scarier than the first one gives me anxiety attacks just looking at it..
Members RubberMan
This is as simple as it gets Sam and I don't really think it's scary at all! If you apply your mind and follow them I promise you you will learn to mesh.....eventually :D
Administrators Rebecah Posted October 14, 2014 Administrators Share Posted October 14, 2014 This is another great tutorial Simon, thank you so much for sharing with us. You make it look so easy and fun. Karen asked that I let you know that she is very ill, and not ignoring you. as soon as she gets better she will try the making the wall. Members RubberMan
Spoke to Karen. She's hanging in and seems just as cheerful as ever lol Hope the tut helps someone and there are several more commands left and I'm not in work much this week so part 3 is looming lol
Administrators Rebecah Posted October 16, 2014 Administrators Share Posted October 16, 2014 I got this far but I don't have the bottom planes to select. I tried to mirror the top planes but that mirrors the full object. I just pulled the bottom section down, and I miss a couple of lines, but I pretty much got it.. Administrators Rebecah Posted October 16, 2014 Administrators Share Posted October 16, 2014 This one was a bit difficult to do, but I did learn a lot.
Members RubberMan
One thing I didn't mention are the shaders. You can get a good idea what its going to look like in game (well the light of course not the texture) by adding shaders to the scene. View -> Shaders As standard it uses hemispherical but to test the lighting for the game I use Spherical harmonics 8 Here is the archway we made with side towers attached and game lighting (no texture)
Administrators Rebecah Posted October 18, 2014 Administrators Share Posted October 18, 2014 Does it allow you to create the shadow files, like you can in blender?
Members RubberMan
Unfortunately not (or not that I know of) Shadows are pretty easy to do anyway but I figured that would be something add at a later date lol
Administrators Rebecah Posted October 19, 2014 Administrators Share Posted October 19, 2014 I don't feel shadows are easy to do.
