I started a 1920s hood. Have been doing everything but playing in it. This after my retro hood crashed and burned... (it got corrupted)..

I had a backup of it, but it was rather old, and I have a back to the future one I started which is meant to be one where you can have different time periods in the same folder.  I just can't get into any of them.   I am in the mood for something different, but for the life of me I can't figure out what I want to play. I have done medieval, I have thought about Victorian, but it is a little too close to what I have already played.

The problem is, there isn't enough content out there for some versions and that would mean I would be doing nothing but creating to a time frame.  Which is fine, but when I play I just want to be able to play, not try to, and realize there are too many gaps for immersion.

I would even just take on a challenge, but none of them are lighting that spark.

I thought about doing a castaways type hood again. That might be fun.  I liked it last time.  Perhaps that is the key, to try playing a different culture, and doing it that way. I could do an Oriental/Asian type theme.

Anyway, suggestions would be really appreciated :)

Oriental/Asian sounds interesting. It is always hard to find the right stuff that you need but it is a fun search.

I've never played a theme neighborhood ... I've always started with a few families and let things take it's course. Perhaps my next neighborhood I may consider a theme of sorts.  I've been playing the same neighborhood since 2014 and sometimes I get bored.   I'm such a slow player; in three years I'm only 4 generation in and only 2 of the founders and a dog has died from old age. Fatimah has a few more days left and she is the last of the first generation. I think I'm ready for a change and I'll be able to purge my downloads folder from stuff I can't remove now without corrupting my game.

I do like the apocalyptic themed games, but the last time I got into it was when I had slower internet and could not keep up with it fast enough. Then my main laptop crashed and all was lost. It is hard to get back into the swing of things after that happens.

I'll give this subject some more thought and if I come with any ideas I'll let you know..but for now I'm afraid I got nuthin. :undecided:

But please, if you decide on a theme keep us updated!

well... I have decided to do castaway style.... again... with an alternate of oriental.

I have a 20s hood :) and a retro (50s) hood, a challenge hood, a contemporary hood, and some test/build/create ones.

I would do medieval again, IF I hadn't lost my medieval backups folder along the way, when my last computer crashed and burned.

Sounds very interesting!

your theme and era sorta reminds me of the dreadful stories of the Japanese interum camps..survival during wartime during the forties n fifties.

Good luck with it!

interestingly enough, I was referring to different folders, so the Oriental one would have been more ancient, and the 50s would be more "Happy Days" inspired. I didn't think to put that image together. I always have this "idyllic" existence in my sims, where war and prejudice don't exist. Everyone lives happily ever after.

I shoulda said thirties n forties.

*edit: The camps were from 1942-46

i know what you mean.. real life has more than enough challenges.. playing Sims is supposed to be a fun and relaxing game.

In fact i love it when funny little things happen unexpectedly in this game!

I hope you will show some pics from your new hood. I have only played one theme hood and that was for the Homestead challenge we had here.  I still have it but I haven't played it for a very long time.

I hope so too! :)

Marbi, that was so much fun! I wish my laptop didn't break down back then so I could've continued. Nonni sure seemed to enjoy it.

That looks so nice. I think I will move one of the families I have in Pleasantview to the vacation islands and see what happens.

I’m curious whether you did anything more with this hood, Gina?

I'm pretty busy exploring TS4 lately myself, but thinking about doing something with TS2 for a change again.

Thanks for offering to share your downloads, Dear..I am currently having trouble getting interested in the game these days. I've been too tired from treatment, and then when I start feeling a bit better I spend all my time trying to get caught up with the housework and stuff..but I hope you get your game/computer fixed so that you can play again soon! :icon_hug:
